LLM

An LLM, or large language model, is the program underneath AI search: software trained on an enormous amount of text that predicts what words should come next.

In a little more detail

Everything AI search does is that prediction, run very well and very fast. It is worth knowing because it explains the behaviour that surprises people: the model is producing a plausible continuation, not looking up a fact, which is why it can be confidently wrong.
